Giorgi Khanishvili met with farmers in Guria region

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili accompanied by Guria Governor, Zurab Nasaraia and Lanchkhuti-Chokhatauri majoritarian MP, Nino Tsilosani met with farmers in Guria region and introduced them with the results of the projects implemented in the region since 2012.
Giorgi Khanishvili stated, that all state support activities are taken to facilitate the development of the agricultural sector, help farmers and entrepreneurs to develop competitive products and improve their living conditions.
According to the Deputy Minister, through state support, farmers and entrepreneurs have an access to preferential financial resources, accordingly, more than 15 thousand people use preferential agrocredit. As a result, 180 new companies were created and 880 more were re-equipped.
In particular, more than 200 loans have been issued in Guria region, which are used to develop livestock, horticulture, fishery and beekeeping fields. With the state support seven new enterprises are already opened and seven more are expanded. Tea, fruit and nut processing plants are created. It is important to note, that over the last two years, the invasion of an Asian Stink bug is remained as one of the main challenges in the region. The main objective of the Government is to minimize the damage and loss of agricultural crops through farmers active involvement. Therefore,139 350 hectares was processed by thermal fogging machines and 17 629 hectares with cold spraying, 7030.7 hectares by gas and 600 hectares by machine aggregates in Guria region.
Guria Governor, Zurab Nasaraia said, that the fight against the stink bug will be continued in the next year as well. ""We have informed farmers about the measures against the Asian stink bug. We discussed details of the farming activities related to the different crop yield to receive a good harvest "
The Majoritarian MP of Lanchkhuti and Chokhatauri, Nino Tsilosani drew her attention to the active participation of locals in the agricultural projects with respect to the economic development of the region.Â
