Levan Davitashvili hosted Ross Wilson

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Georgia, Ross Wilson and representatives of the Organization "Land O'Lakes" and US Department of Agriculture (USDA). At the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the new project "Food for Progress" in Georgia and evaluated the importance of the project.
With the help of the organization "Land O'Lakes International Development" (Land O'Lakes),  the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will implement a new project in Georgia. The budget of the project amounts to 17 million $ and will last for 5 years. 
The Minister thanked the Ambassador for support and assistance provided to Georgia over the years, he brought forward future plans and achievements in the agricultural sector and drew his attention to the development of the livestock sector in the country.
Today we have  initiated the new project " Food for Progress ", which aims to support the development of the agricultural sector in Georgia. The Land O’Lakes is a US based organization working for livestock and diary sectors development  and which along with the Michigan State University will be engaged in the implementation of this new project. We support the development of Georgia " – declared Ross Wilson.
The new project aims to  increase agricultural productivity in the dairy and beef sectors by disseminating farm management best practices. The project will expand extension models to achieve a competitive advantage in the field of livestock, comprising development of innovations and service-oriented marketing system through direct involvement of public and private sector representatives in the process.
Project beneficiaries will be medium and large scale farmers and entrepreneurs across the country.
The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, National Food Agency, Georgian Innovations and Technologies Agency, Georgian Farmers Association and various private sector and NGOs.
