Movie Premiere "Georgia – Homeland of Wine"
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili, Members of Georgian Government and Parliament, representatives of scientific and cultural field attended the premiere of the scientific documentary movie "Georgia- Homeland of Wine".
➡ The film is dedicated to the international scientific research, under which the groundbreaking discovery was made, announcing, that Georgia is the cradle of wine. It should be mentioned, that, the oldest evidence of winemaking was found 8000 years ago and since then wine making is continued up to this time in Georgia. The film includes important information about scientific project "Georgian Vine and Wine Culture Research" and exhibition ‘’La Cité du Vin’’ , which was held in Bordeaux in 2017.
The center of Wine Civilization the ‘’Cité des Civilisations Du Vin’’ Bordeaux, France hosted the exhibition "Georgia-Cradle of Wine”, which lasted for 3 monthes and attracted a record number of visitors. The exhibition is a step forward, considering wine culture, traditions and history of our country. Therefore, in a global context, Georgian wine might be ranked as the most important part of our identity around the world.
The scientific director of the project is the correspondent of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences David Lortkipanidze, coordinator - the scientist of the National Wine Agency, Professor of Georgian Viticulture, academic doctor of agricultural sciences - Davit Maghradze.
The documentary movie was filmed with the support of the National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia ‘’Sakpatenti’’.
The movie runs for forty minutes and is directed by Alexander Gabunia. The filming took place in different times and multiple locations including Georgia and the United States, Italy and France. The film was produced at the studio "Sinemani Film". From 2019, the documentary movie will be presented in different festivals of many countries across the world.
