World Environment Day is celebrated in ‘’Biblusi ’’ book shop
World Environment Day is marked on June 5th. The activities undertaken under the frame of the event are dedicated to raise public awareness and responsibility towards nature protection. The theme for 2018 is "Beat Plastic Pollution".
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has organized an action in three ‘’Biblusi ’’ book shops. Within the scope of the event, the representatives of the Ministry provided consumers with the information on the biodegradable bags and handed shirts and multi-use fabric bags to them.
Since consumption of plastic bags is a global problem, many countries have developed certain regulations to reduce their consumption. The application on technical regulation for degradable plastic products aiming to introduce the International and European practice in Georgia will start in 2018.
Since 1972 December 15th, the June 5 has been declared as an Environment Day by the UN General Assembly. On the initiative of the United Nations, this day is dedicated to one of the most important environmental issues, the challenges it faces and efforts and solutions to environmental problems.
