Nino Tandilashvili met with the Head of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) project

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili met with the Head of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) project "Vertically Integrated Climate Change Policies ‘’, Tangmar Marmone.

" On behalf of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the German Ministry of Environment for long-term and multilateral cooperation in the field of climate change. At present, Climate Change Portfolio combines four projects, including "Integrated Climate Change Policy", which aims to strengthen the role of municipalities in the implementation of climate change policy "- Nino Tandilashvili said. The participants noted, that, in the implementation process of climate change mitigation measures, the Ministry being the coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors, should acquire an objective information on the challenges faced by the Municipalities (signing the Covenant of Mayors). It is worth noting, that self-governing cities make endeavours to promote smart city technology and actively participate in the fight against the climate change.

Rustavi is one of the first cities, which joined the Covenant of Mayors, the first - obtaining an approval for implementing a demonstration project, under which the initiative to develop cycling as an alternative means of transport in the city is being discussed.

The Head of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) project "Vertically Integrated Climate Change Policies ‘’ Tangmar Marmone noted, that it is obvious, that, Georgia is actively engaged in the fight against the climate change. Tangmar Marmone expressed willingness to cooperate further with Georgian side.

Rustavi Mayor, Irakli Tabagua along with the Heads of the relevant departments of the Ministry attended the meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
