The lead content in the atmospheric air does not exceed the permissible limit

Since September 2018, as a result of the increasing interest of Georgian population related to the lead poisoning, the National Environmental Agency has expanded the scope of lead monitoring in Tbilisi. The samples were mainly taken from road, kindergartens and school yards.
More than 60 samples were taken from different points of Tbilisi, although non of them revealed to exceed the permissible limits. "It should be noted, that continuous reporting, that, the main problem in Georgia or Tbilisi related to the high concentration of lead in the atmosphere is not true. In particular, monitoring on lead in the atmospheric air has always been underway over the last ten years and the indicator has never exceeded the lead limit, which is defined in accordance with the European limits for air quality.

Furthermore, according to the conducted research, the concentration of lead is reduced in the atmospheric air each year and is decreased relatively compared to the established norm. Monitoring of lead in the atmosphere is being carried out in Batumi, Kutaisi and Rustavi since 2014. "- Levan Davitashvili said.
