Research was conducted to investigate lead content in petrol

"The quality of fuel has a significant impact on the volume and toxicity of emissions in motor vehicles apart from technical arrangement and compatibility of automotive vehicles. The quality of fuel is improving year by year in the country. Since 2017, Georgia has determined to consume ‘Euro 5’ standards of fuel.
Diesel quality is gradually improving as well. From January 1, 2019, diesel fuel has increased to Euro 4 norms and from the end of the year it will reach to Euro 5. However, important pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide and benzene are within the scope of the norm throughout the country.
It is noteworthy, that Georgian Government has actively undertaken the control on the quality of fuel. Compared to the previous years, when quality control was provided only in 30 petrol stations, in 2018, the fuel quality was inspected in 143 stations. "- Levan Davitashvili stated.
