Minister made a report in the Economic Conference "Georgia and the World 2019"

Georgias’ agricultural potential, contribution of the agricultural sector to make Georgia the economic center across the region, as well as existing challenges, implemented projects and achieved results was highlighted by Levan Davitashvili at the meeting. The Minister noted, that government continues to actively implement a number of projects to promote and increase the competitiveness of the agricultural employees, to support institutional development or development of value-added products.
" At present, 186 new enterprises are created and 900 more are re-equipped with the state financial support. 993 Intensive, different cultural gardens are planted on 6,347 hectares of agricultural lands and 44 Georgian tea plantation rehabilitation projects are underway. 116 young beneficiaries are engaged in the state projects, aiming to involve young people in the development of the sector " - said Levan Davitashvili.
The main challenges embrace following issues, regarding, strengthening of value chain and each link in the chain of activities, conduct training of highly qualified personnel, increase access to modern technologies, support qualitative and quantitative growth of local production, import substitution and export promotion, market diversification, promote bio production and take regulatory measures under the green economy.
"Apart from many programs that we are implementing, co-financing program of harvest equipment, promotion of technical assistance, as well as agricultural products marketing and livestock support programs will be added from 2019, which will play an important role in the economic growth of the country" - said Levan Davitashvili.
The Minister stressed the importance of amelioration projects, land management policy, cooperative projects and the results achieved in the wine sector.
It was announced, that in February, the Ministry will hold a presentation on the quality mark, which will promote popularization of Georgian agricultural products both at the local and foreign markets.
