The main directions of Georgia's air quality policy was positively evaluated in Geneva

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tandilashvili participated in the twenty-fourth session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Committee on Environmental Policy (CEP), whereby, the Deputy Minister brought forward Georgia's commitment to improve the quality of air and drew her attention to the progress achieved in this direction. The representatives of state and non governmental organizations from 60 countries attended the session. Nino Tandilashvili noted, that implementation of environmental reforms is an important priority for Georgian government. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is actively implementing measures to improve environmental governance and sector reforms.
"Effective measures to improve the quality of air, including active engagement of society in the above mentioned process are considered as one of the key directions of the reform. New air quality portal was created, which will be a transparent instrument for raising environmental awareness and consciousness of Georgian population "-the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili said.
" The progress achieved in Georgia in the direction of air protection is quite obvious. The newly created air portal meets the requirements of the EU and demonstrates the will of the Government of Georgia to come closer to the EU. This is a confirmation of the government's readiness to address the challenges of air pollution.
This is a very positive signal for Georgian citizens, European Union and international community as well, referring to Georgian government to respond these challenges adequately "said the Executive Director of the European Environment Agency, Hans Bruyninckx and stressed Georgian experts experience and engagement in the process.
Under the frame of the twenty-fourth session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tandilashvili made a speech in a number of panel sessions, where, in 2016, in the Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference held in Batumi, Georgia she presented the results achieved in the implementation process of the obligations taken by the country.
