At the session of the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy, the report on the fulfillment of obligations to protect air quality was submitted by Nino Tandilashvili

Under the frame of the twenty-fourth session of the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy held in Geneva, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili submitted the progress report on Georgia's voluntary commitments.
At the eighth Ministerial Conference ‘’Environment for Europe’’ conducted in 2016 in Batumi, the Ministers endorsed the voluntary Batumi Action for Cleaner Air (BACA)  joint efforts in improving air quality.
Batumi actions for cleaner air will help countries to improve air quality, protect human health and decrease environmental pollution.
Georgia has undertaken 7 voluntary obligations in the following directions:
Improve air quality monitoring and evaluation system
● Improve fuel quality
● Development of Public Transport in Tbilisi
● Promote green management of electric vehicles and cars
● Improvement reporting on emissions
● Increase access to air quality.
As the Deputy Minister noted, one of the most important priorities of the Government of Georgia is the improvement of air quality.
Nino Tandilashvili underlined activities taken in recent years as well as progress made in this direction, thereby, she stressed  the importance of new air quality portal created by the Ministry to ensure access to the comprehensive information on the ambient air quality and safety measures, which will ultimately raise public awareness.
