Levan Davitashvili hosted Japanese Winemakers
The town of Katsunuma in Japan and Telavi- town in Kakheti region to be granted with the status of friendly cities was discussed at the meeting. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and the members of Japanese winemakers led by the president of the Katsunuma Jozo Winery, Aruga Yuji attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of Georgian wine as the oldest winemaking culture across the globe and drew his attention to the activities undertaken by the National Wine Agency which is the State Regulatory Agency having public authority for exercising, implementing and regulating wine sector related issues.Â
"We mostly appreciate famous cities and winemakers to have close ties with each other. Our great desire is to have close communication with winemakers' communities "said Levan Davitashvili, who also refered to the presentation on Georgian wine culture, which is planned to hold in spring in Tokyo and invited Japanese delegation to the Georgian wine event.
" Visit to Georgia - a country with rich culture and deep roots of wine-growing and wine-making traditions is particularly important for us. It is a great honor for us to get closely acquainted with the traditions of the wineland "said Aruga Yuji.
The Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, Deputy Chairman David Tkemaladze and Executive Director of the Association Georgian Wine Tina Kezeli attended the meeting at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.Â
