Levan Davitashvili hosted Johannes Dopffel

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili met with Johannes Dopffel, the representative of the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BWZ).

At the meeting, the sides highlighted current projects and brought forward future cooperation issues. The Minister made a detailed account of the implemented and ongoing projects and underlined the importance of the financial and technical assistance provided by the Federal Republic of Germany and thanked Johannes Dopffel for their support.

According to Levan Davitashvili, under the consolidated Ministry, Georgian Government defined environmental directions as the top priority. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture spoke about the ongoing forest reform being underway in Georgia and highlighted the importance of the Forests Development Project and New Forest Code of Georgia, he also noted, that Georgia is a reliable partner to the Federal Republic of Germany and expressed his wish and interest to further deepen cooperation towards the development of protected areas and forestry sector. BWZ representative approved Georgia’s vision and its commitment to promote the development of the environmental sector in the country.

The First Deputy Minister, Nodar Kereselidze attended the meeting.
