Levan Davitashvili attended the Ministerial meeting in Izmir

On August 7-10, 2019, Izmir,Turkey hosted the largest Agriculture and Livestock Fair and honored the summit of the Ministers of Agriculture. ‘’The Future of Agriculture in the world” was the main topic to discuss at the Ministerial, which was attended by high rank officials of the Ministry of Agriculture from 14 countries.
Under the frame of the Ministerial, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili addressed the participants and highlighted challenges and needs faced by the sector, in this respect, the importance of application of latest technologies, involvement of young people, also,  to increase competitiveness and productivity in the sector was brought forward by the Minister, who drew his attention to the ongoing and planned agricultural programs and projects as well.
" The demand for good quality, harmless and healthy food products is significantly increased in the modern world. Therefore, only one country's effort is not enough to achieve this goal. In accordance with the principles of sustainable development and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the countries should take joint endeavours to achieve better results " -the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture said.
 Levan Davitashvili noted, that,  the Prime Minister of Georgia announced the development of green economy as the top  priority of the country, which considering the principles of environmental protection will further contribute to the sustainable agricultural development in Georgia.
Within the visit, the bilateral meeting was held with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, Bekir Pakdemirli. At the meeting, the sides discussed main directions of mutual cooperation in the field of agriculture and agreed to promote trade relations. The participants highlighted issues regarding two countries to share their experience in agriculture, exchange of field specialists and implementation of joint scientific research projects.
At the meetings, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Turkey Giorgi Janjghava, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani and Head of the National Food Agency, Zurab Chekurashvili.
