Levan Davitashvili: "Close cooperation with business sector brings forward actual issues and promotes effective decision-making process"

Under the initiative of the Georgia Employers’ Association (GEA), the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili held meetings with the representatives of more than 100 companies. At the meeting, the sides highlighted new regulations and drew their attention to the ongoing and planned activities.
"We regularly meet with the representatives of business sector. The mandate of the Ministry embraces many different directions, accordingly, questions posed by the representatives of business sector are important for us. We discussed a new food labeling policy, which promotes initiatives to  raise awareness among consumers and encourage them to make informed choices about food "said Levan Davitashvili.
The participants discussed issues related to the waste management regulation, regarding banning the use of plastic bags and drew their attention to the new food labeling regulations and rules.
As the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture noted, close cooperation with business sector brings forward actual issues and promotes effective decision-making process.
"Today, we discussed agricultural projects implemented in Georgia last year and results achieved in this direction. We also highlighted issues related to the actuality of some principles of law and legislative requirements that are becoming mandatory. We have heard about the new initiatives and projects planned by the Ministry.
The promotion of bioproduction is a matter of utmost importance across the world and it is also important that a specific program was developed in the Ministry in this direction "said - the president of “Employers' Association”, Elguja Meladze.
The meeting was held under the frame of the Employers' Association Program "Business Dialogue with Government". The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture answered all questions posed by the representatives of the business sector.
