Levan Davitashvili hosted the representatives of the organizations interested in biodiversity protection related issue

Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture met with the representatives of organizations interested in biodiversity protection related issues.
At the meeting, the sides discussed joint projects, future goals and implemented actions. The Ministry is actively working with the environmental organizations and carries out a number of important projects to achieve  National objectives and targets for biodiversity protection and conservation.

"Maintaining and protecting biodiversity as well as restoration of ecosystem is of utmost importance for us. On the other hand, rapid economic growth is one of our priorities. Human impact on nature is increasing, therefore protection measures should be taken to protect environment.That is why our Ministry has developed a new draft law that will regulate and create legislative basis in terms of biodiversity management.

In addition, it is important that the project funded by donor organizations and the activities implemented by NGOs to be in line with the Ministry's policy. The overral goal of today's meeting was to discuss important issues regarding to hold inter-firm coordination with the stakeholders and all interested parties and  organize more efficient policies and make plans for future activities "- said Levan Davitashvili.

The sides agreed that further process of strengthening cooperation between all international, governmental and non-governmental organizations and scientific institutions and enhancing coordination between different organizations is necessary for proper implementation of the above mentioned processes.

The representatives of environmental NGOs, international organizations and expert experts attended the meeting was held with the support of German Society for International Cooperation  (GIZ).
