The 33rd meeting of the National Animal Health Program (NAHP) was held at the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture,  Giorgi Khanishvili headed the meeting. In his welcoming speech Giorgi Khanishvili thanked members of the Supervisory Group for 10 years of work. He positively evaluated experience accumulated in the work process and noted, that as a result of the completion of the Program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture,  the Department of Food and Rural Development of the Ministry will take the management of the Supervisory Group.

"I would like to thank donor organizations and experts for their contribution to the implementation of the program. We have tangible results within the program, but there are many challenges as well, therefore, I think donors will support us and we will continue our effective and fruitful cooperation in the future "- said Giorgi Khanishvili.
The sides were  focused on the measures implemented in the fields of supervision and control of animal diseases. Representatives of National Food Agency, Laboratory of the Ministry, National Center for Disease Control and Public Health underlined current activities and future plans.
Zurab Chekurashvili, head of the National Food Agency stated that the Agency plans to announce Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti and Mestia municipalities as the disease free zones.

The representatives of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), (GIPA) Agriculture Development Department, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Draft Treasury Reduction Agency (DTRA), Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Swiss Cooperation Office (SCO) and EU (EU) representation in Georgia attended the meeting.
