Levan Davitashvili got acquainted with the environmental activities implemented by RMG

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili with the members of the Committee working group on environmental pollution in Kvemo Kartli region ( parliamentary investigative commission "Sakdriss Committee", "Green Policy Public and Scientific Research Platform") visited Kazreti to get acquainted with the implementation process of the obligations taken by RMG Cooper and RMG Gold under the agreements with the Ministry.

"A great number of  problems have been accumulated due to mining activities taken over the years in Sakdrisi and Kazreti. In 2018, Ministry obliged the company to address issues of historical heritage, to fix the damage, as well as to address current environmental issues.
It is important for us to observe how obligations imposed by the Ministry are fulfilled. The Environmental Supervision Department will examine this issue in detail "said Levan Davitashvili.
Nino Burchuladze, head of Sakdrisi Committee noted, that the company has already taken a number of activities and the rest is underway to be implemented. "However, it is too early to speak about the final results. We will make conclusions by the end of April, "said Nino Burchuladze.
he company has a long-term as well as short-term commitments taken under the agreement with the Ministry, which are related to the impact on environment, with a great focus on water resources and their protection.

Under the terms of obligations, the company built the water collector reservoir and pumping system nearby the copper ore, from which the river Kazretula was polluted and by building 
water collector reservoir and pumping system the source of contamination of the river was eliminated.

In accordance with the government's decree, the company also set 7 waste disposal districts and installed equipment to prevent pollution of the environment from dust storms.
