Levan Davitashvili met with farmers in Tianeti

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili, the Prime Minister's Advisor for Regional Development Issues, Sozar Subari, Mtskheta-Mtianeti State Representative Shalva Kereselidze and other representatives of the central and local government met with farmers in Tianeti.

"It is very important and useful for us to communicate with local population, to further develop and improve rural development programs to meet the needs of the local residents. Local residents express interest in a number of environmental issues, including forests. Due to the interests of the population, we will continue our meetings in the regions " stated Levan Davitashvili.

At the meeting, Minister gave a detailed account of ongoing agricultural and environmental projects. Levan Davitashvili stressed changes implemented in the project ‘’Plant the Future’’ and noted, that the new sub-component "berry crops", which envisages financing of blueberries, blackberry and raspberry intensive gardens, was added to the component of co-financing perennial gardens.

Under the frame of the state Program on Rational Use of the State-owned Grasslands in the Highland Regions" Levan Davitashvili delivered agricultural equipment for 90% co-financing to the agriculture cooperative "Khvari Mta" in Tianeti municipality. The cooperative was created in 2016 and includes 19 shareholders.

"We discussed issues which are very important for local population, hopefully we have already dealt with most of them and we work to handle the rest part in the nearest future" said Shalva Kereselidze.

The sides also discussed issues related to the promotion of livestock development, regulation of pasture and truck routes, extension of protected areas, to deliver farming equipment  to the municipalities, support vocational education, melioration etc.
The regional meeting was organized by the administration of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti state trustees and with the support of  Tianeti municipality.
