Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hosted Georgian Honey Producers

The parties brought forward measures taken against the Asian stink bug invasion in the country and in this context highlighted bee care related issues.

„Georgian beekeepers engagement in the process of planning and implementing measures against the brown marmorated sting is very important for us.

The right time for chemical treatment activities should be defined in close  cooperation with the beekeeping experts. considering experience gained throughout past two years, this year the early warning system will be more flexible.

The Minister noted, that Ministry will invite experts and high level specialists from consultation companies to Georgia and will send Georgian beekeepers to abroad to help them increase their knowledge and skills, as increasing of knowledge is crucial to promote the development of beekeeping sector.

The participants have been focused on the animal identification and registration system and stressed, that traceability system as well as support provided to agricultural cooperatives under the state program is very important.

The sides decided to hold another meeting with Beekeepers by the end of March and to figure out when / how to take planned measures.
The representatives of the National Food Agency and Relevant Agencies of the ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture attended the meeting.
