‘’ Minister’s Hour’’ Levan Davitashvili delivers report at the Hearing Session, Parliament of Georgia

Under the frame of the hearing session which was conducted  in the format of "Minister's Hours", the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili underlined the importance of effective management of water resources while presenting the annual report of the activities implemented by the Ministry.

The Minister noted, that the Ministry has prepared the reform for water basin management system, the draft law on water resources management and he thanked the members of the sectoral committee for their close cooperation with the Ministry.

"  Water rights are a major consideration in river basin management . In the pilot mode we have a plan prepared by the USAID, project for water basin management plan  and plans to prepare for Khrami-Debeda and Iori-Alazan Basin systems this year, which we think will create a new reality in terms of water resources management "said Levan Davitashvili.

Minister stressed the importance of strengthening laboratory capacity building.

"We need a precise monitoring system, National Environmental Agency has a modern laboratory where water and soil analyzes are conducted and contaminations in soil, water as well as air conditions are tested by using modern methods" said Levan Davitashvili.

The Minister underlined the importance of taking control on surface and ground water systems and noted, that by 2019 more than 170 objects will be controlled in terms of controlling surface waters and more than 60 objects in terms of implementing control on groundwater systems.
