‘’Minister’s Hour’’ Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili presents a report at the hearing session, Parliament of Georgia

At the hearing session held in the format of ‘Minister’s Hour ’’,  the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili stated, that financial support is planned for bio producers to support organic farming in Georgia. 

"Promoting organic farming is an important part of the green economy. The presentation of the project will be held in the nearest future. We will help farmers to develop bio production, assist them to produce organic products, offer them consultations and help them to pass certification phase.  This is an expensive and risky direction and without state financial support will be difficult to promote organic farming "said Levan Davitashvili.

The objectives of national programme for organic farming include:

During 5 years, the areas for organic farming to increase up to 5,000 hectares,
sustainable development of 2,000 organic farming, to support existing and new organic farming to pass certification phases, to take measures for promoting and increasing awareness of bio-production, to raise knowledge and skills of bio producers , conduct staff training / retraining to introduce modern technologies in bio-production.
