Levan Davitashvili: " Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) '' is one of the most important donors of Georgia"

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili hosted the SDC Assistant Director General and Head of the Department of Cooperation with Eastern Europe; Ms. Ambassador Ruth Huber.
At the meeting, the Minister underlined agricultural potential of Georgia and drew his attention to the events implemented by Georgian Government together with donor organizations, including Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
" Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is one of the most important donors of Georgia. I would like to note, that the agency is actively engaged in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection. We have implemented many successful joint programs. Today we highlighted plans that Ministry and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will implement in Georgia, first and foremost the promotion of livestock sector, identification / registration of animals and other supporting projects that facilitate rural development in the country "said Levan Davitashvili. 
The Minister thanked the representatives of Swiss Agency and stressed, that two countries have long-standing successful cooperation.
‘’You are the best example and inspiration for success, moreover, your activities in Georgia including sharing of your experience, supporting the development of livestock, strengthening vocational education and information-consulting services is very important for us " stated Levan Davitashvili.
Apart from many challenges, there are many good initiatives that we welcome and support -was noted by Ruth Huber.
"We support development of small entrepreneurship in the country and help Georgian farmers to increase productivity. We support strengthening of trade relations, development of processing enterprises and creating value chain in the country. Our assistance includes the development of farmers' information-consulting services - extension service system and introduction of a work-based learning model in agriculture - vocational education as well. One of the most important issues for the Ministry is adaptation to climate change, where we provide a financial support through UNDP "said Ruth Huber.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Georgia Patric Franzen, Regional Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the South Caucasus (SDC) Olivier Bürki and Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Khatia Tsilosani attended the meeting.
