Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani hosted plastic bag manufacturers, exporters and representatives of large trade networks

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the banning of production, import and sale of plastic bags on which the law takes effect on April 1, 2019. The participants drew their attention to a number of problems facing the business sector in respect to the transition to a new regulation.

However, they arrived at a conclusion, that consumption of plastic bags causes irreparable damage to the environment and all citizens should be interested in reduction of the damage.
It is noteworthy, that from April 1, 2019, manufacture, import and sale of plastic bags of any size and thickness will be prohibited, furthermore, plastic bags will be replaced with biodegradable, compostable bags made of compostable materials.
Considering the  impact of plastic bags on the environment, the consumption of plastic bags is a global scale problem.
