The working meeting of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council for Rural Development was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture

At the workshop of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council for Rural Development, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili made a welcoming speech, whereby he showed an appreciation and gratitude to the EU for their support provided to Georgia over the years. Within the frame of the meeting, the Head of the Policy - Analysis Department of the Ministry, Ekaterine Zviadadze presented the annual report on the activities implemented in 2018 under the Rural Development strategy of Georgia 2017-2020 and  action plan for 2018-2020 strategy .

The sides noted, that priority directions of the 2018-2020 action plan for rural development includes enhancement of competitiveness of rural economies, improvement of social conditions and living standards, protection of environment and sustainable management of natural resources.

The participants discussed issues related to the arrangement of new amelioration infrastructure, construction and rehabilitation of enterprises, agro-insurance programs, promoting cooperative farms, planting of perennial  intensive gardens and providing effective public communication.

Ekaterine Zviadadze brought forward activities implemented in the field of environment, including sustainable management of protected areas, forests, water and other resources, monitoring on environmental pollution, hydrometeorological observation and annual geological monitoring.

the annual report on the activities implemented in 2018 under the Rural Development strategy of Georgia 2017-2020 and  action plan for 2018-2020 strategy was presented by the representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture And Sport of Georgia, as well as the Ministry of Justice.Â
