The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani attended the first workshop, which was held under the Municipal Development Coordination Platform and brought together Mayors of self-governing cities and municipalities of Georgia signing the ‘’Covenant of Mayors’’, national and territorial coordinators and other stakeholders. The working meeting was conducted in Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Tbilisi.

"A number of good initiatives were inspired including establishment of a Municipal Development Coordination Platform. We have taken a great responsibility towards the environment and make endeavors to implement the climate change policy. The problems caused by climate change are becoming increasingly visible not only in Georgia but throughout the world "said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani.

According to the Deputy Minister, the ‘’Covenant of Mayors’’ gives members of the Eastern Partnership a good opportunity to promote energy efficiency and reduce problems caused by the urban transport and climate change in the country.

"I hope we will improve existing practice and determine the right policy to reduce carbon emissions in the air. EU4 Energy is an initiative that supports our municipalities, central and local authorities to determine and implement appropriate policy that will have a substantial impact and will further improve living conditions of the population.
