Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture opened the training session " Sharing Experience and Best Practices to Improve Cycling in the Cities of Georgia"

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili opened the training session " Sharing Experience and Best Practices to Improve cycling in the cities of Georgia".

At the session, Nino Tandilashvili has been focused on the challenges of the climate change and underlined the role of municipalities and self-governing cities in the development of national policy on climate change.

"The cycle infrastructure network  should be developed not only in the capital, but in small urban cities of Georgia as well, moreover, the transportation is a major source of air pollution in the regions. The needs of our population should be taken into consideration while planning a climate change policy, accordingly, ecologically pure transport will make the environment more secure and safe " - said Nino Tandilashvili.

German experts discussed possibilities of cycle infrastructure to be developed in the cities of Georgia.

The training was held with the support of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany under the frame of the ongoing project "Integrated Climate Change Policy" with the participation of the UNDP project "Green City”: Batumi’’ 

The three-days training session is held in the hotel "Holiday Inn". The GIZ Office South Caucasus Country Director, Carl F. Taestensen, UNDP Environment & Energy Team Leader, Nino Antadze, representative of the UNDP, Lasha Nakashidze, also representatives of Tbilisi City Hall and self-governing cities are attending the session.
