Levan Davitashvili met with the representatives of the Swedish Delegation
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with Minister for International Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Sweden, Peter Eriksson and other representatives of the Swedish Delegation. The meeting was held in the Government Administration of Georgia.
The parties discussed possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection, namely waste management. At the bilateral meeting, Levan Davitashvili stated, that environmental protection is a top priority of the country and underlined the importance of the green economy, as the economic development model, which is initiated by the Prime Minister of Georgia.
At the meeting, the Minister brought forward positive changes implemented in the field of waste management and informed delegation members with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Legislative Acts to harmonize with the EU Association Agreement was also stressed by the Minister while highlighting issues related to the waste management code.
Levan Davitashvili expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Peter Erikson and noted, that Swedish Environmental Agency and International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) are active and strong supporters of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
According to the Minister for International Development Cooperation, the Kingdom of Sweden considers Georgia as an important partner and is ready for further cooperation with Georgian side.
After the meeting, the delegation of the Kingdom of Sweden accompanied by the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili and Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani visited waste sorting and separation plant -one of the landfills of the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia Ltd in the city, Rustavi.
The Members of the Delegation also took part in the planting action planned under the campaign "Clean up Georgia" by the organization "Greens Movement of Georgia" in Bostana Street. Â
