Air quality assessment built on the European principles to conduct across the country

The legislative amendments were implemented in compliance with the relevant European requirements at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, due to which, the country will move to the modern European principles regarding atmospheric air quality management, that means to improve the air quality assessment system.

In recent years, significant progress has been made in this direction. The monitoring network is expanded, range of substances namely arsenic, cadmium, nickel are constantly observed.

Air quality management will be based on the modern European practice. In particular, the territory of the country will be divided into zones where air quality management will be carried out through application of  individual approaches.

Air quality management plans will be developed and implemented in the areas where high pollution is found on the established standard, likewise it is applied in the capital city.

The legislative amendment was approved by the Government of Georgia and submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
