New Decree approved by the Government of Georgia on the use of forest resources
According to the draft resolution adopted at the Government sitting today, under the terms of the long-term license specially issued for timber use, the waste ( disposal / removal of waste produced from wood cutting / recycling, or waste created as a result of natural disasters) as a potential source of raw material for biofuel production will become available in particular areas.
The above mentioned draft resolution will facilitate the reduction of pressure on forests, preserve forest ecosystem, prevent fires, use its socio-economic potential and create source of raw material for interested persons to further produce biofuel.
The license holder will have an opportunity to acquire wood resource remained as a result of different natural disasters or wood chopping in the particular area defined by the license, in case if the wood resource meets the types of plants described in a license.
In case if a license holder isn’t interested to use timber resource, the State Forest Fund management bodies ensure that it is adopted and issued in accordance with the regulations established by the applicable legislation. Â
