" Farmers to provide with chemical treatment equipment is crucial, as it will increase their productivity,  accordingly, interest rate is significantly increased among farmers. Last year was successful, we received positive results as a result of activities taken against the Asian Stink Bug. However, due to law involvement of farmers, we got a less-than-expected hazelnut crop. Farmers' to get high crop yield is of utmost importance and I think, that current year will be a turning point in terms of hazelnut production "said Giorgi Khanishvili.

It is noteworthy, that hazelnut survival campaign including measures against fungal diseases and invasive pests as well as raising awareness of farmers enters crucial stage. Subsequently, all the above mentioned will help farmers to get high quality crop.

Within the frame of the "Hazelnut Protection Program", with the participation of Georgian Government together with the Hazelnut Growers Association, a plan consisting of complex measures has been developed, which enables farmers to take farming activities in a timely and efficient manner and avoid hazelnut crop damage and economic losses.

Hazelnut Growers Association is the largest association of farmers. At present about 15,000 farmers are engaged in the "Hazelnut Crop Survival Program". Farmers are divided into groups and have their own leaders to supervise above mentioned process, within the project, the farmers have an opportunity to purchase fertilizers and pesticides in preferential terms. The association has agronomists as well, who will supervise farming activities and events, that will subsequently help farmers to receive high hazelnut crop.
