Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Cyprus side in the field of Agriculture

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Chhristodoulidis in the Agricultural field.

The Bilateral Agreement expresses a will for further convergence  between the two parties, indicating an intended common line of action such as  promoting the development of cooperation, implementing joint activities and projects in the field of agriculture.

The signing ceremony was held at the Georgian State Ceremonies Palace.

" Cyprus is considered as one of the most tourist-friendly countries and an important trade partner to Georgia, our country should strengthen agricultural trade ties with Cyprus. The cooperation in the fields of viticulture and wine making is of utmost importance reflected in a significant upward trend in the volume of wine being traded internationally. 

We have an opportunity to offer Cyprus side Georgian grape varieties that will be well adapted to their local climate conditions, accordingly prospect of cooperation between the two countries includes several directions and priority areas" said Levan Davitashvili.

The Cyprus Delegation headed by the President of Cypros Nicos Anastasiades held an official visit to Georgia for the first time.
Within the frame of the visit, the President of the Republic of Cyprus met with the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabishvili. Meetings with Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze and Chairman of Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze are also scheduled.
