Levan Davitashvili: We should remember that earth is our home and it needs our care and attention

At the conference " Challenges of Environmental Policy and Management in Georgia" dedicated to the Earth Day, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili addressed the participants and noted:

"It is important to remember that earth is our home, which needs our care and attention. The Ministry takes activities to maintain and restore biodiversity in the country "said Levan Davitashvili.

The Minister expressed appreciation to the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) for organizing the conference. Furthermore, the importance of employing qualified staff as well as raising public awareness in the effective implementation of environmental policy was underlined by the Minister at the meeting.

The discussions also touched upon the environmental policy, environmental education, atmospheric air, biodiversity conservation and climate change related issues

The representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Georgian Parliament and local and international environmental NGOs attended the meeting.

It is worth mentioning, that Earth Day is an annual event celebrated in more than 150 countries worldwide. Georgia also joins the campaign and celebrates the event.
