Levan Davitashvili visited agricultural cooperative Nikozi

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili along with the Governor of Shida Kartli region, Giorgi Khojevanishvili visited nursery farm "Nikozi" of agriculture cooperative in the village Niqozi.

Under the frame of the project plant the future the farmer, George Mchedlidze built a profitable farm in the village nearby the borderline, the farm is focused on expansion, reproduction and multiplication of  new breeds. The farmer brought American walnut and almond seedlings and planted on several thousand hectares.

"Cooperative Niqozi is doing a great work and gives a good example to other farmers. It is also important, that farm  is beyond the borderline. state programs are targeted at two main directions first includes cultivation of agricultural crops and development of modern farming and the second gives additional benefits to the residents living in the borderline areas. We have made such benefits in all directions in order to motivate farmers living nearby borderline areas." said Levan Davitashvili.

As the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture noted, farmers will enjoy different conditions in the villages located near the borderline. Amendments will be introduced in the project "Plant the Future, as a result of which the villages adjacent to the borderline will get benefits. The co-financing component of the project ‘’plant the future’’ includes planting land of 1 ha, according to the amendment, the minimum area of land in the villages adjacent to the border line will be reduced and will be 0.5 ha instead of 1 ha.

Farmers receive 70% assistance  for seedlings and 50% assistance for irrigation systems under the component of financing perennial fruit gardens. According to the amendments, farmers will receive 80% of the cost of seedling and 60% of the cost of the irrigation system.
Amendments will also be included in the co-financing project of agricultural processing and storage enterprises. if project is implemented, the farmer will receive a 40% grant from the state instead of 50% - no more than 600,000 GEL in the villages located near the borderline areas.
