Levan Davitashvili hosted the Practice Manager for Water Resources in Europe and Central Asia Region of the World Bank, David Michaud

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the Practice Manager for Water Resources in Europe and Central Asia Region of the World Bank, David Michaud. At the meeting, Levan Davitashvili drew his attention to the extensive experience and best cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank.

 

The issues related to the supply of water to the irrigation system and measures to reduce the negative effects of climate change have been discussed by participants, who also brought forward projects under which a permanent access to water resources will be provided. The projects will be implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture with the support of the World Bank.

 

Moreover, the inter-sectoral meeting will be held on 8 May, where participants will discuss  projects on the construction of new water reservoirs, which will not only acquire irrigation function but  will generate renewable energy sources in the country.

 

The First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili, Deputy Minister Khatia Tsilosani and heads of relevant departments within the Ministry attended the meeting.
