Under the Agro Insurance Program, from 2014 till now, reimbursement received after deducting loss amounted to 35 million GEL

In 2019, GEL 8 million was allocated from the state budget for agro insurance program. According to the current data, under the insurance program, 4 217 policies have been issued throughout Georgia, 3,381 policies were issued in Kakheti region.
In the current year, 8 insurance companies are involved in the State Agro Insurance Program. All the licensed insurance companies operating in the territory can  participate in the program in case if they wish.

In 2019, like in the previous years, the co-financing of the state insurance policy will be 70% for all crops and 50% for vine.
 The natural person or legal entity which has an agricultural land plot no more than 5 hectares in his ownership (no more than 30 hectares in case of wheat harvest insurance) might be involved in the agro insurance program. Furthermore, any beneficiary who owns 30 or 100 hectares of land plot, will receive state co-financing if he insures at least 5 hectares of land.
Under  the frame of the Agro Insurance Program, the insurance policy covers the following insurance risks: hail, flood, storm and fall frost (for citrus).
The project is undergoing changes each year and is improving on the basis of the international standard. In 2018, under the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the amendment was introduced into the State Agro Insurance Program, according to which , the crop grown on the land plot which is registered in the National Agency of Public Registry is the subject of insurance. 
. This change will remain unchanged in 2019. The period of time is determined by the day farmers start their insurance and will cover 4 days .

Under the frame of the Agro Insurance Program in 2014- 2018:

• 81 453 policies were issued

• 71 413 ha of area is insured

• crop harvest with total amount of 551 366 395 GEL was insured

• The state has subsidized 33 854 463 GEL from the amount paid on the insurance service.

The agro insurance program was put into force in 2014. From the date of launch of the Agro Insurance Program, the  reimbursement of farmers loss amounts to 35 304 952 million. GEL.

The program is meant to develop the insurance market in the agricultural sector, promote agricultural activities, retain income for individuals who are employed in the agricultural sector and reduce risks associated with (hail, flood, storm, autumn frosts).
