Kakheti region hosts the first conference of wine growers

Under the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, wine growers conference bringing together regional winemakers, grape growers and field specialists held in the village Kachreti, Gurjaani municipality. The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili, the project initiator,  Gurjaani majoritarian MP, Davit Songulashvili,  Akhmeta and Telavi majoritarian MP, Gela Samkharauli and Kakheti regional governor, Irakli Kadagishvili addressed the participants and made welcome speeches at the conference.

"This year, the wine growers conference is held for the first time. It should be noted, that our wine growers, wine makers along with the stakeholders participate in the event, which is held in the middle of Kakheti. The participants are well aware of the challenges facing the winery sector. Last year, more than 85 million bottles were exported. Over the past four years, new vineyards have been planted in 7,000 hectares in Kakheti region. This is the result of the support projects implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia in the field of viticulture and wine making" - Solomon Pavliashvili said. 

The representatives of LEPL Agricultural Scientific Research Center, Sakpatenti, LEPL National Wine Agency, LEPL National Food Agency and officials of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture discussed challenges facing the viticulture-wine making field .Â
