Windbreaks will be planted on 18 ha in Sagarejo, Gurjaani and Dedoplistskaro municipalities
The Presentation of the new project "Restoration and planting of windbreaks in Kakheti" was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. Within the frame of the project, the windbreaks will be planted on 25 km (18 ha area) in Sagarejo, Gurjaani and Dedoplistskaro municipalities.
 " The measures should be taken to restore and plant windbreaks , prevent desertification and most importantly to ensure soil protection. The Ministry actively works to restore protective strips in the agricultural fields. I would like to thank Donor organizations for their support, which we receive for the implementation of the new project "Restoration and Planting of Windbreaks in Kakheti Region", said Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The project "Restoration and Planting of Windbreaks in Kakheti Region’’ has a multi-sectoral approach, considering support for adaptation to climate change and protection of soil and biodiversity.
The above-mentioned project is implemented by The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus) with the financial support of International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) under the frame of the Agriculture Modernization, Market Access and Resilience Project (AMMAR).
The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Yuri Nozadze and Solomon Pavliashvili, representatives of relevant municipalities of Kakheti region and donor organizations attended meeting held at the Environmental Information and Education Center.
