A new project to develop the livestock breeding in Georgia was launched

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili attended the presentation of the project " Safety and Quality Investment in Livestock’ in Georgia". 


‘’There is a close multisectoral cooperation between the United States and Georgia. This investment project is an evidence of special relations between the two countries. The project responds to the challenges facing the rural people. We have great expectations that this project will be successful " -said Levan Davitashvili.
 
The Minister expressed gratitude to the United States Government for its assistance and underlined the importance of the project.
 
The Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia,  Elizabeth Rood spoke about the friendly and strategic cooperative ties between the countries and drew her attention to the new project.
 
It is worth mentioning, that the new project is implemented in partnership with the Land O'Lakes International Development, Georgian Farmers Association (GFA), Michigan State University (MSU) and the US Department of Agriculture . The project aims to improve food safety and quality standards in cattle and meat industries in Georgia.
 
The goal of the project is to increase agricultural productivity and expand trade among more than 54,000 direct program participants throughout Georgia.
 The budget of the  five-year program, titled ‘Safety and Quality Investment in Livestock’ amounts to $ 14.5 million.
The representatives of the relevant departments and stakeholders attended the event.
