Levan Davitashvili offered specific proposals to the residents affected by flooding in Gori
Levan Davitashvili: "Farmers affected by hailstorm in Shida Kartli region will get 200 GEL vouchers; On the basis of the relevant agreement, the government will pay for their irrigation services; Furthermore, the agreement was reached with financial institutions, due to which, the loan restructuring solutions will be provided for local residents. Special programs will be launched with the support of donor organizations. "Â
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili arrived in Shida Kartli together with the Governor of Shida Kartli, Giorgi Khojevanishvili and offered specific proposals to local population affected by hail.
"The loss is large and we understand, that farmers are annoyed and displeased. We were able to mobilize an instant resource to save perennial crops. We held a meeting with the representatives of financial institutions and banks, which expressed readiness to discuss individual cases and restructure loans. We have reached an agreement with the banking sector. Furthermore, the support from international donor organizations is very important. We started to discuss these issues and conduct negotiations to implement special programs. We actively work on the land registration as well. The Prime Minister of Georgia prioritizes this issue. I would like to note, that insurance is a guarantee for a minimal loss. The State Agro Insurance program has rather been improved and is getting better each year, hopefully it will be in the best interests of farmers in 2020. However, to make insurance more accessible and efficient, the ‘’element of universality’’ should be included in the program, more farmers should be engaged in the program to make insurance package cheaper, including to hold and continue state participation / state component as well " said Levan Davitashvili.
