Levan Davitashvili: We start to develop local fish farming and establish cooperatives in Javakheti Plateau area
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili along with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze paid a visit to Samtskhe-Javakheti region.

"Today, we present a very important project. We start to develop local fish farming and establish cooperatives in the area of Javakheti Plateau , thus will enable local residents to increase their production. The programs to develop sailing will be also implemented, as a result of which, Abul, Paravani and Sagamo Lakes will be recognized as protected areas. The protected areas receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values, however aiming to develop and maintain ecological system does not mean to impose restrictions on residents to carry out their agricultural activities. We make great efforts to create additional values for residents " said Levan Davitashvili.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia plans to implement the reproduction of ichthyofauna and restoration of fish populations in Sagamo and Paravani lakes and bring back those fish species that were found in these lakes before and help local residents to take advantage of natural resources.
