The Vinitech Conference is held in Georgia for the first time

"The important conference is held in Georgia, where Georgian and French representatives of scientific and business circles in viticulture and winemaking field from Bordeaux region participated. Bordeaux is the largest winegrowing region across the world, accordingly, the visit of the French delegation, as well as to hold a joint conference is of utmost importance" said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili at the conference held under the VINITECH innovative tour ‘’ French Experience and Innovation that are best suited to meet Your Activities " .

Levan Davitashvili brought forward issues related to the consistent policy implemented by Georgian Government and results achieved in the viticulture and wine making field,  in consequence of which Georgia's wine production and wine export has been increased. The importance of application of modern technologies in planting new vineyards or conducting scientific research was also underlined by the Minister at the conference.

" It is a well-known fact that, Georgia is the homeland of wine, the oldest centre of winemaking. Therefore, Georgia is very interesting for many researchers and scientists. Bordeaux region conducts a tour for the first time and it is symbolic, that Georgia is the first country in this respect. French scientists are interested in bringing innovations in the country with richest traditions. Bordeaux is the center of modern wine making, a leader- introducing and establishing  innovation and technology in winemaking; Thus, cooperation with French side is a priority issue for us " said Levan Davitashvili.

The representatives of Georgian and French viticulture and business circles highlighted issues regarding, impact of climate change on viticulture, urgent need for new irrigation methods, also optimum time for harvesting grapes and modern technologies in the field of viticulture and winemaking.
