World Bank implements an important project to develop the forestry sector in Georgia

" The forest with its valuable natural resources plays an important role in the environmental protection, accordingly, development of forestry sector is one of the most important directions in our country. We should consider economic principles while addressing the utilization of forest resources. I would like to express my gratitude to the representatives of the World Bank for providing  support in the development of a new forest Code. 


The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze made a welcome speech at the meeting held under the frame of the World Bank project" South Caucasus - Strengthening the Private Sector for Forest Sector Development " . 

‘’We should create a model for forest farming,  I believe, that, cooperation with donor organizations and private sector  will help us to achieve the desired results.’’ - declared the Deputy Minister at the event. 

The results of the survey in the forestry sector of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussed by participants.

According to the World Bank Team leader, Tuukka Castrén , Georgia is rich with  natural forest cover, which requires protection and development. The World Bank Team leader expressed his wish to further  continue cooperation with Georgian side in the field of forestry.

The officials of the relevant agencies of the Ministry, as well as  representatives of the forestry sector of Armenia and Azerbaijan attended the meeting.
