New project will support the development of protected areas in Georgia
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia' LEPL Agency of Protected Areas launches a new project to improve the infrastructure and management of protected areas, develop ecotourism and establish new protected areas in the country. The KFW- German State owned Development Bank allocates a grant contribution to implement the project.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with the Director of South Caucasus regional office of KfW, Klaus Veigel. At the meeting, the two sides highlighted issues related to the development opportunities of protected areas.
The Minister thanked the representative of German State Development Bank for cooperating with Georgian side. Levan Davitashvili underlined the importance of ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, as well as development of protected areas in the country.
"Georgia is rich in natural resources, our task is to further develop and protect valuable natural resources in the country. Georgia has a great potential and I believe, that close and effective cooperation with our partners will lead to achieve successful results "- stated Levan Davitashvili.
According to Klaus Veigel, KFW supports economic development in Georgia and is ready for long-term cooperation.
The Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Yuri Nozadze and Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Valerian Mchedldze attended the meeting.
