New fruit and vegetable processing plant operates in Kakheti region

Modern fruit and vegetable processing plant "Georgia’s Naturally" created by financial support of Georgian Government is opened in Khvareli municipality.
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili, together with State Attorney in Kakheti region Irakli Kadagishvili,  and Director of Rural and Agricultural Development Agency, Paata Shekheladze  visited new enterprise and got acquainted with the production process. 

" Agricultural development programs implemented by Georgian Government in recent years are successful and results-driven, furthermore, over the past five years, more than 190 enterprises have been established across the country under the state support programs. The standard introduced in the enterprise "Georgia’s Natural" confirms that, we have successfully implemented our policy, relating to produce high-quality products and establish a distinctive place in the global markets "said Giorgi Khanishvili.

The fruit and vegetable processing plant  "Georgia’s Natural" has the capacity to process 4,000 tons of fruit and vegetable per year, current production are intended for export markets. The above mentioned company is a beneficiary of the project ‘’Co-financing of Agro Processing and Storage Enterprises’’ and employs 25 people. In total, 2,808,920 GEL was invested in the enterprise, out of which 630,200 GEL is grant and 1,252,000 GEL preferential agro credit. Moreover, ISO 22: 000 Standard is introduced in 2019. At this stage the introduction of standard for organic production is underway.  In August 2019, the company will be registered as an enterprise " processing organic products " .

It is noteworthy, that from 2013 till today, 200 new enterprises were funded under the state support programs. The  financial support of Georgian Government has given the entrepreneurs an additional incentive for the development and expansion of their enterprises.

The Rural and Agricultural Development Agency implements a number of projects and programs, aiming to promote the long-run growth in rural areas,  enhance competitiveness in the agricultural food sector , ensure steady growth of high-quality agricultural production and introduce international food safety standards.
