Wheat harvest is underway in Kakheti region

Cereal harvest is underway in East part of Georgia. Farmers started to harvest wheat since mid June. It should be mentioned, that cereal harvest runs smoothly, without any hindrance. The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili visited Dedoplistskaro municipality, where he got acquainted with the harvesting process and met with local farmers.

" Successful results were achieved under the state programs which are increasingly important for us. 50% of co-financing will be provided for farmers to buy necessary equipment under the state program for purchasing agricultural equipment. Furthermore, in the previous year, we purchased 30 units of combine harvesters, which helped farmers to run harvest smoothly. Harvest was conducted successfully in Alazani, is underway in Shiraki and will be conducted in Kartli region as well. Farmers are satisfied, they are well aware, that state programs support their interests and are focused on their success" said Giorgi Khanishvili.

LTD "Agricultural Logistics and Services Company" of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is engaged in the harvesting process.
In 2018, the "Agricultural Logistics and Services Company" purchased 30 unites of new combine harvesters, due to which the harvest process continued uninterrupted. 
103 farming machinery are set in Kakheti region, out of which, 45 unit combine harvesters are arranged in Dedoplistskaro service center, 58 unit combine harvesters in Gurjaani service center. 

At this stage, "Agricultural Logistics and Services Company" has already harvested cereal crops sown on 6500 hectares in Kakheti region ; out of which, barley sown area includes 2300 hectares whereby, sown area of wheat about 4200 hectares.

The Director of the Rural and Agricultural Development Agency, Paata Shekeladze, Kakheti State Representative Irakli Kadagishvili, Director General of Agriculture Logistics and Services Company Murtaz Khipiani and local farmers attended wheat harvesting process.
