Levan Davitashvili: "Irresponsible statements made by opposite parties worsen economic conditions for Georgian population

In recent days, we have clearly seen, that Georgia's opposition party United National Movement (UNM) strives to create problems in the country, aiming to aggravate and worsen economic situation for population.

As a result of the irresponsible policy implemented by UNM, we have already received problems in the tourism sector, furthermore, serious threat is posed to export of agricultural products. Our country receives more than half a billion gel through export of agricultural products in the Russian Federation. From 2006 to 2012, when embargo was imposed on Georgian products, more than billion dollars were imported from Russia to Georgia, although our country did not receive any income.

We have created a positive trade balance, therefore, trade-economic relations as a part of pragmatic policy is very important. It is also very important, that we do not cross the red lines and have never posed a question to make a choice between two options territorial integrity or trade relations.

Georgia's opposition party United National Movement (UNM) strives to mislead the population, it is a part of their agenda. On the other hand they inflict a damage to trade relations with their irresponsible behavior that will eventually worsen the economic situation in the country.

Finally, I would like to note, that we are actively working towards diversification of export markets. sale of wine grew 100 % in other markets around the world, up to 40 million bottles of wine is exported from Georgia at this stage. While the total export of wine amounted to 20 million in 2012, whereby, most of them were exported in various ways to Russia. At the same time, the budget allocated for popularization of Georgian wine has grown from GEL 1 million to 9 million GEL, which made Georgian wine popular and one of the demanded product across the world.
