Peach and Nectarine picking season is in active phase
Peach and Nectarinr picking season runs smoothly in Kakheti region.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili got acquainted with the harvesting process and met with local farmers in Gurjaani municipality.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture makes endeavors to support farmers to not face problems in the harvesting process, including peach picking, storing and selling stages. All necessary export documents will be prepared and issued under the single window principle to facilitate the export, besides, refrigeration and cold-storage facilities operate in active mode in Gurjaani municipality " Solomoni Pavliashvili stated.
The Deputy Minister held a meeting with the entrepreneurs in Gurjaani Municipality and got familiar with the work process of fruit- cold-storage facilities.
At present, peach and nectarine harvest season has reached its peak, 800-1000 tons of fruit are picked per day. According to the latest data, 4000 tons of peach and nectarine have been exported from Georgia. To facilitate the sale of peach, the working group is also established at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, which actively works in the following fields: obtaining information, sistemization, connecting farmers directly with buyers.
