Peach and Nectarine picking season runs smoothly in Kakheti region
At present, the volume of the harvested fruit exceeds 16 000 tones, while export is more than 6 000 tons.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili got acquainted with the harvesting process and met with local farmers in Telavi and Gurjaani municipality.
" We enjoy a plentiful harvest and picking runs smoothly this year. The working group created at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture supports farmers to deliver and export their products. The demand has been increased and farmers are satisfied with the market price " said the Deputy Minister.
At present, nine cold-storage facilities are operating in Kakheti region. The Deputy Minister visited a cold story facility „Champion Plus” in the village Chumlakhi , Gurjaani municipality and got familiar with the delivering and storing process. As of today, the farm has received about 600 tons of peaches.
Within the visit to Kakheti, Solomon Pavliashvili went to see Davit Napireli’s farm in the village Vanta, Telavi municipality. The farmer has a garden, where earlier peach varieties are planted along with other varieties, whereby, the farmer starts fruit picking season in June and exports his products.
