Unified certification system will be developed with the support of FAO

With the support of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (UN FAO), the  Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture launches a new project to develop and implement a unified certification system for nursery farms in Georgia.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Khatia Tsilosani together with the representatives of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (UN FAO) highlighted main directions of the project.

“The  support provided by FAO to produce the quality planting material and ensure compliance with the international standards in the nurseries is very important for us. The certified nursery farms will further lead to increase agricultural productivity in the country. I firmly believe, that, through joint efforts we will achieve amazing results ” the Deputy Minister said.

As was mentioned, at the initial stage the certification standard for perennial nurseries will be developed under the project, which will be implemented with the engagement of the National Food Agency,  Agricultural Research Center and Rural and Agricultural Development Agency.
The representatives of relevant agencies at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture attended the meeting.
