Representatives of central and local government held meetings with the residents of Tsageri Municipality

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili met with the local residents living in the villages Okureshi and Kvemo Tsageri, Tsageri municipality. The Governor of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region, Archil Japaridze, Mayor of Tsageri Municipality, Avtandil Ugrekhelidze and representatives of local authorities attended the meeting.

The Deputy Minister gave a detailed account of all projects implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and introduced local residents with the achieved results. Solomon Pavliashvili stated, that region is small and has small land area, however, farmers will use existing resources even more effectively if they join the agricultural cooperatives. The Deputy Minister informed locals about new plan for firewood supply. 

“ Our active communication with the local population will be further continued. We will provide residents with the detailed information on the projects implemented by the Ministry and set priorities together with them. In 2019, GEL 25 million work activities will be implemented under the project in Tsageri Municipality;

 In total, 132 different projects are implemented, which is undoubtedly an impressive number. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture plans to register protected appellations of origin, grape varieties Usaxelauri and Orbeluri Ojaleshi. The region has a great potential for developing tourism. Utilization of this potential will greatly improve the socio-economic conditions of the population ”said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili.

At the meeting, the Governor of the region, Archil Japaridze noted, that construction of Kvemo-Zemo Svaneti and Racha-Sachkhere connecting roads is of utmost importance.

at this stage the project on the rehabilitation of Khvamli mountain road is underway, which will make the region more attractive for tourists and promote development of tourism. The issues concerning small business development was also outlined by the Governor.

The residents of  Okureshi and Kvemo Tsageri villages named unregistered land plots and internal roads as the main problems in the region.
